Today marks the start of ‘Zeebenen’ the podcast. Presenters Joris Koornneef (Mayor of Your North Sea ) and 'loco mayor' Eva den Boer talk to different stakeholders of the North Sea about creating a sustainable future for the largest nature reserve and the fastest changing part of the Netherlands, the North Sea. How do we ensure that people, nature and technology work together in the right balance, now and in the future, while we take care of the North Sea? Aramis is grateful to have had the opportunity to contribute to two of the eight podcasts. Our colleagues Joep Sweyen and Tim Benard discussed the concept and ambitions of the Aramis project, what the purpose is of building a Carbon Capture and Storage system for the industry, how Aramis engages with various stakeholders and how we apply Nature Inclusive Design to make the offshore pipeline and platforms as nature friendly as possible. You can listen to the first podcast Aramis contributed to (Dutch only) here: #ccs #decarbonise #northsea #natureinclusivedesign

The ARAMIS CCS project welcomes funding from the European Commission for decarbonisation efforts.Last week, the European Commission has granted a subsidy of €124 million to the Aramis CCS project under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) programme. This marks a crucial step forward in the development of an open-access CO2 transport infrastructure, emphasizing its importance for CCS infrastructure development in the Netherlands and its alignment with climate targets in Europe and the Netherlands for 2030. The Aramis CCS project, a collaboration between public and private partners, aims to create a large-scale CO2 storage system and reduce industrial CO2 emissions. This infrastructure will play a vital role in the energy transition by facilitating decarbonisation efforts within the European Union. Aramis will be able to connect the CO2 collection hub developed by the CO2next project, to the onshore CO2 collection pipeline and to the compression hub (developed by the Porthos project, also co-funded by CEF).#CCS #CEF #Energytransition

Aramis CCSprojectcongratulates CO2next with an important milestone:the project entered the so-called Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) phase.CO2next will play a key role in the CO2 infrastructure and supply chain that is planned to be built in the coming years.CO2next aims to build a liquid CO2 terminal at the Maasvlakte in the port of Rotterdam, that can be used by customers not connected to a CO2 pipeline to ship liquid CO2. Therefore, the terminal will be a critical piece of CO2 infrastructure which can beleveraged as part of the CCS chain. The technical feasibility and development of such CCS chain is jointly explored with theAramis CCS project, to whichthe terminal is connected. This marks another significant step towards the CCS facilities needed for European decarbonization, essential for achieving its climate targets. We look forward to jointly grow and strengthen the CO2 infrastructure.#CO2next #CCS #decarbonization

We love talking about our Aramis CCS infrastructure project. But we realize that although communication is important, comprehension is key. It all starts with understanding Carbon Capture and Storage. This article is a great starting point for anyone interested in CCS and comes with handy factsheet.#CCS #knowledge #energytransition

In just two weeks, the European Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) will bring together public authorities, private companies, NGOs, and consumers to promote initiatives accelerating decarbonization through green technologies and solutions. This year’s theme, ‘Net-zero competitiveness driving EU energy transition,’ focuses on delivering Europe’s decarbonization through green technologies and solutions towards a fair and just transition for people and competitive businesses.Aramis CCS will be participating in a panel discussion (June 12th) on overcoming barriers to CCS deployment. The session will delve into the challenges to deploy the necessary infrastructure for the achievement of the 2040 climate target, emphasizing regulatory policy and public awareness. #eusew2024 #ccs #decarbonisation

Ensuring Safety in CCS: A Vital ImperativeLast week, Bellona Europa published a new report on CO₂ storage: “How can CO₂ be stored underground and what are the risks?” highlighting the importance of safety in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS).As we transition towards a more sustainable energy future, CCS plays a crucial role in mitigating CO₂ emissions. CCS involves capturing CO₂ emissions from industrial processes and power plants, transporting them, and storing them underground. Ensuring safety protocols at every step minimizes risks associated with leaks, accidents, and unintended consequences. The Aramis project will comply with all relevant and applicable safety standards. The report provides answers to the main questions about CO2 storage:❓ How is storage done?❓ What are the main types of storage?❓ What are the risks?❓ What are the Measurement, Monitoring and Verification methods?❓ What’s the current storage situation in Europe?Read the report here 👉 https://lnkd.in/dbEdcmNB#CCS #decarbonisation #carboncapture

Last week the North Sea Decarbonisation Conference was held in London. On May 1st, our Programme Director Annemarie Manger had the privilege of virtually presenting the Aramis CCS project. Annemarie spoke about Aramis, being the largest carbon capture and storage (CCS) project in North-West Europe, within the context of the CCS developments in the Netherlands. Thank you to EIC (Energy Industries Council), Agoria, WORLD FORUM OFFSHORE WIND (WFO) and IRO - The Association of Dutch Suppliers in the Offshore Energy Industry for the opportunity and the photo!#NSDC2024 #ccs #decarbonisation

Yesterday the Dutch news broadcaster @NOS published a newsitem on CCS. Through capture and underground storage under the North Sea, we can reduce Dutch CO2 emissions as quickly and efficiently as possible. First via Porthos and then on a larger scale via Aramis CCS. Great contribution from Berte Simons EBN B.V. and Lex de Groot Neptune Energy.#ccs #nos ##energytransition
