Clemson's schedule, TV coverage for Super Regional with Florida announced (3)

CLEMSON— Clemson will open its Super Regional series with Florida on Saturday.

The June 8 contest will be a 2 p.m. first pitch at Doug Kingsmore Stadium, and ESPN will have the broadcast. The series' second game on June 9 in Clemson is slated for 2:30 p.m. on ESPN.

A third game will only be played, if necessary, and a start time has yet to be determined.

Super Regionals are best-of-three series played either Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday. Backing up the Clemson-Florida series to Saturday accommodates the Gators, who rallied to force a June 3 rematch with regional host Oklahoma State and advance in the NCAA tournament.

Clemson, on the other hand, went 3-0 in its regional, wrapping up play June 2.

The extra day of rest, however, could offer the Tigers some flexibility on the mound. If Clemson wanted to throw All-ACC freshman Aidan Knaak to open the series Saturday, he would not be on short rest.

The Tigers could also stick with sophom*ore Tristan Smith, who pitched last Friday against High Point, to lead off the Florida series.

Regardless, there is plenty of intrigue surrounding a Clemson-Florida matchup. The Gators, like the Tigers, are led by a Jack Leggett disciple in former Clemson assistant Kevin O'Sullivan (1999-2007). O'Sullivan shared an office with current Clemson coach Erik Bakich during the 2002 season.

O'Sullivan, a head coach since 2008, led Florida to a national title in 2017. The Gators were runners-up to LSU in last year's College World Series.

Florida just barely made the NCAA tournament in 2024 after after going one-and-done in a SEC tournament loss to Vanderbilt and holding a record of 28-27. But the Tigers have rallied, bringing a talented team to Clemson's doorstep as Bakich and the Tigers try to make their first trip to Omaha since 2010.
