Yankees vs Twins final score, highlights: Carlos Rodon leads way to seventh-straight win | Sporting News (2024)

The New York Yankees find themselves in the middle of another lengthy winning streak.

Coming off an impressive road trip on the West Coast that resulted in the Yankees going 7-2 across three series, the best team in the American League returned to the Bronx this week to host the Minnesota Twins.

After grabbing a 5-1 win on Tuesday night, the Yankees came right back to secure a 9-5 victory over the Twins on Wednesday, marking another series victory.

This win pushed the Yankees' record to 44-19, the best in the American League and tied with the Philadelphia Phillies for the best in baseball. And they continue to do so without ace Gerrit Cole.

On the mound for the Yankees was lefty Carlos Rodon, who continued his campaign to become the Comeback Player of the Year. It was another strong start for Rodon. He looks more like the pitcher they signed to a massive $150 million deal than the one who struggled with injuries in 2023.

Rodon gave the Yankees six solid innings, allowing three hits, two runs (both earned) while walking none and striking out a season-high nine batters. He was perfect through 5.1 innings before giving up a solo home run to Carlos Santana

Rodon threw 100 pitches (65 strikes) and generated 18 swings and misses, lowering his season ERA to 3.08.

Offensively, the Yankees continued to smash. Aaron Judge's big night included only one hit, but it was a bases-clearing triple down the left field line. He finished with a team-high five RBI.

Meanwhile, Anthony Volpe logged three hits to raise his season average to .290 while Juan Soto got on base three times. Giancarlo Stanton also had two hits, including a rocket RBI single that came off the bat at a scorching 115.5 MPH.
